A little bit of everything. Some family fun to share with family around the world. Some DIY activities. Some camping gear. I am going to try and share some gear that I have used cycling, camping, DIYing, and maybe some toys. And some things that I just think look cool on video.

Finding And Fixing A Water Leak In The Main Water Line In The Yard
Просмотров 33 тыс.Год назад
I found a water puddle in my front yard. It had not rained in about two weeks so I knew I had a water leak. I had called a plumber, he said he would dig it up and fix it for $300 dollars. The only problem was, his knee was hurt, so he could not dig it up. He said If I dig it up, he would fix it for $150 dollars. I dug up the pipe, but when I called the plumber, he did not answer. I went to the ...

For messing with hornets, you crazy, just like my boxer :)
Yeah. I paid the price a couple of days later. These hornets' sting was painful.
I did something very similar years ago with two liter bottles of diet coke clear plastic. Made several for family members. Thanks for the video.
Thank you for your comment.

Hey Charles weigh stations and Arbitron ratings are essential..
Thank you Charles for sharing this video about the pocket froe you made. May I know if you take an order? Please let me know. Thanks for your response, blessings.
I am sorry, but I do not make these for people. I made the video so someone could make one for themselves. Perhaps, if you know someone that knows how to weld, you could get them to make one for you.
Zip line???? Awesome 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼😎
Thank you. My childhood treehouse had a zipline and trapdoor, but it didn't have a sliding glass door.
Wow! You nailed it!
Almost 70 years ago when I was 14, with the old version, dressed only in my floppy underwear in the middle of the night, I heard a large dog harrassing my pigeons. Rushing to their aid, I tried to quickly cock the lever between my thighs - it slipped. It took almost 60 years for the last scar on my, well... to heal. But thanks for the memory. Now my wife knows what I was talking about all these years.
OUCH!
I got a brnad new old stock one that was made in 1987 when i was 5 back in 97 for Christmas and it was my forst ever gun and tons of soda and beer cans and bottles got destroyed. Then i got a crosan pumpmaster 760 when i was 8 and my first rim fore rigle 22 lr at 10. And my red ruder still shopts accurate and jaut as good as the first time i shot it. And yes the mote bbs you shoot through any bb gun using brass bbs will make it more accurate but a pellet rifle shooting lead and aluminum pellets will foul up the rigling and barrel with specs of lead and become less accurate
With this knowledge, I shall proceed to construct a dribble-castle metropolis, then wage war upon it until there are random buildings still standing, then bit by bit, I shall make those that stand last fall.
Sounds pretty epic. How will you wage war? Water guns, throwing sand, or act like Godzilla and stomp the castles? They all sound like fun.
Oh my God what I wasn't expecting you to reply- 😆 Definitely throwing sand like a catapult and godzilla'ing it, it's got to be epic that way!
@@carolinianperson7359 You can see me defending the new castle at 0:26 From "Dominic the Destroyer!" He earned that title in preschool. Not long after this video was made, there were only remnants of castle with footprints left behind.
I know this is an old video, but I truly appreciate what you made. And showing how you achieved it. I have a lowrider bike that I’ve built and wanted to make something custom as well to showcase it on top of my mini truck. And this is absolutely perfect. Thank you for sharing this.
Thank you for your comment. That is on of the best things about RUclips, a video can be old and still useful. I would love to see a photo of your lowrider bike roof rack on your mini truck, once you make it.
ha about right, are they going to eventually have a trail through that section?
Three Rivers Land Trust are negotiating with two land owners to get the land to close the final gap. Hopefully soon.
Good video man!
Thank you. It is supposed to be raining all weekend, so I might get days 2, 3, and 4 released in the next couple of days.
I did this on the beach in Rhode Island as far back as 25 years ago
Someone taught me how to do this when I was about ten years old and I am not old at all, so it wasn't too long ago. You have to love how some things are passed down. Thank you for your comment.
I did not think shark bite could be put underground or behind a wall without access???
It can
Spoiled spoiled lol.... That was one of my most favorite adventures with Shane, Anthony and Brad... Dude you grow some hair in a hurry ... Be safe out there watch for the rattlehead copper moccasins.
You have to get the gang together and do it again. I don't grow hair that fast, it has just been that long since you have seen me. And not just snakes, Did you hear about the coyote attack in Uwharrie?
@@CHARLESCRANFORD yeah that would be fun if I could still do it lol... I heard about the attacks, that's crazy!!! Usually coyotes won't do that. They pretty scared of humans.
Have a 1977 760 “Coleman” Crossman which I’m rebuilding at this time. Hope I can make it operational again. 👌🏻
Good luck.
Thanks for the video - especially the info for the hardware. I just purchased a portage yoke 3rd seat and will be installing it this week.
Thank you. Please let me know how it works out for you.
What year was your house built?
1992
helpful video, where do you live, and how deep is that water main?
Thank you. Central North Carolina. The water gauge is about one foot deep. The pipe, where the leak was, is about two feet deep.
That’ll cost you on your water bill! I know b/c it just happened to me 😩
It did, but luckily I caught it early. It was a dry Summer, if it were wet outside, I would have probably gone a few months without noticing it.
I wish I could do stuff like this when I was younger, never really had access to the large rectangular rolls of bubble wrap, just the dots
It's crazy how much bubble wrap is included in packages.
Mine was old when I got it had for 20 years have old daisy pump that barrel screws out to load
So many different Daisy bb guns out there, and if they are taken care of, they will last forever.
Good camping this weekend! - Bill
Perfect weather. We got to get the canoe camp planned.
too bad my line is 1.8m deep.
Model 94 from the 50s needs to go to Resto-mod. But everything is still on it flip up peep sight and all.
You got to love Resto-mod, unless he is bidding against you on Flea-bay. I have an old model 94, I need to do a video showing the four main Red Ryders.
Thanks so much for making this video! I have a 66 model 760 with the same internals and couldn't find any info, plus the detent tab was driving me nuts trying to figure out where it went!!!
Thank you for your comment. I mainly made the video for myself, but figured I would put it on RUclips for future use. Good luck keeping your 760 running.
My leak is 4 feet down in solid clay. The line is broken right outside of the basement cinder block wall i can hear it from inside. I would give anything to be digging in soil like this!
All the water, in my soil, was a blessing and a curse. Normally the dry, rocky soil would be hard to dig and dusty. The wet soil was easier to dig but a big muddy mess that was hard to see the difference between a tree root and a water pipe. Good luck fixing your leak.
How did you fasten bottom plate wall to decking? If screws, how many?
I think I used #10 3-1/2" long screws between the studs, so probably around 30 or 40.
Nielsen
Wow! My video has been on RUclips for six years with a spelling error. I think I will just leave it that way. Thank you for pointing it out.
At 26:36, you have the threaded pin backwards. The cut slots go outward to allow a screwdriver to hold it while tightening the sideplate screw. You were lucky on that valve, I've tried tape, rubber, nothing will hold mine tight enough to allow me to get it to come apart. The plier jaws did a pretty good job strafing the checkvalve surface though... I may try it again with leather, perhaps an old belt. The screw was also cross-threaded into it, but a tap salvaged it enough to where the screw will hold.
I have watched that part five times and I am still not sure what threaded pin you are referring to. Is it the pin that the trigger pivots on?
The big pin that goes through the receiver and holds the rear plug. Freeze frame at that timestamp, it's already installed.
@@stevekurzban9352 Okay I think I see what you are talking about. During disassembly, at around 10:00 you can see me wondering if it goes in one way or the other. Reassembling at around 21:49 you can see me fumbling with it and it seamed like it would only go in the way I put it in, but I was able to put it in backwards somehow. If one of the screws got stuck in there, it would be hard to get it out without access to the slotted part of the pin. I am surprised the pin isn't slotted on both ends. But, when I was disassembling, that part, I didn't need to hold the pin to be able to take the screw out, I got lucky. I was mainly taking video of taking this apart for my own use in case I couldn't remember how something went together. Thank you for pointing this out. Hopefully your comment will help someone figure out how to fix there air gun.
@CHARLESCRANFORD you fared better than I did, a kit with 4 o-rings netted me 435 fps using bb's at 10 pumps...
@@stevekurzban9352 I would have been happy with 435, cause before it would barely hold enough air to spit a bb out the barrel. Do you hear any air leaking by, when you pump it up?
With the homeless population on the rise in Stokes county I'm surprised that cave hasn't been claimed & occupied as home for some.
Some caves I have been in would be cool to live in, this cave is not one. There wasn't even a spot to sit comfortably. I couldn't imagine trying to sleep in there.
Can some use these track you and see text messages?
No. Not the one in my video. I have heard that they may be using a phone app now, and that may be able to track more. Thank you for your question.
In my experiences, it's easier just to replace the whole valve
It could be easy, but rebuilding it was easy rebuilding it. Thank you for your comment.
pretty cool thanks I need to do a 1.25" rebuild or replace. I think ill rebuild looks easy.
Thank you for your comment. It is easy.
I logged into RUclips just to drop this comment, shat my pants because I spent 300 bucks on some headlights. Ended up with one of them covered in condensation that left a nasty film and was already having nightmares about hearing it up in the oven, especially because I think if it already has that nastiness inside and you bake it you’ll accidentally cook the grime in forever. Unfortunately my lights have about a 3mm passing between the backing and the actual inside of the lens itself but I’ll do what one comment said and just sew the magnet into a microfiber cloth. Pray for me lol about to go to the hardware store for the stuff. I’ll drop an update comment after I take out my headlight and clean it, thank you for this I had this idea myself but never saw it in practice. Ur a life saver I thought I threw 300$ in the trash!!!
Thank you so much for your comment. I am looking forward to see how it turns out for you.
You'd think this guy would have watched some RUclips videos on how to do this correctly. Jeez...
I have read all the pros and cons of all sorts of different connectors for pipes. In the end, nothing lasts forever. I will one day have to replace the pipe, but I bet the new shark bite connectors will outlast the already 30 year old pipe on the other ends of it. Thank you for watching my video.
Shark bites buried in dirt is bad way to do it. Should use philmac couplings
I have read pros and cons on all types of connections. The best way to repair the leak I had would be to replace the whole 100+ feet of pipe. I didn't have the money or time at the time. I know that one day I will have to replace the pipe, it just wasn't that day. Thank you for your comment and advice.
@@CHARLESCRANFORD well yea but I was referring to how you spliced that piece in. Should’ve used philmac plastic couplings not shark bites. Same cost and time better result.
@@brycenunweiler4872 I hear you. My local hardware store recommended the shark bite couplings. I have had good advice from them before and feel confident that the shark bites will outlast the old pipe on either side of them. And one day, I will have to replace the whole pipe.
That does not look like an old Red Ryder? Sight,s look different from the one i had?
There are officially four different models of Red Ryder bb guns. The "old" one in my video, is from 1981. The very first ones were from 1940. I need to make a video showing the four different models. I bet you yours doesn't have a safety.
Very cool that this rifle built with adjustable flat head piston. Must have translated in higher fps velocities
My dad passed away 11 years ago we started cleaning up the laundry room closet came across a Buffalo Bill I remembered it from about 25-30 years ago I cleaned it up a little oil works great also a Marksman looks like a shotgun
I am sorry for your loss. I bet that bb gun brings back memories of your youth and time spent with your father. Thank you for sharing your story.
$50 bucks for a metal lever and one more inch in length? Dang, I'd rather try and make my own stock for my normal one.
Yeah, it is a bit more. I have seen DIY bigger stocks, but it could take a while.
YES. Nice one!
Thank you.
Haha had a dry fire. Good video thanks bud😮
Thanks for sharing this video. My father bought me this for my tenth birthday in 1976. Mine has a mounted scope on the upper rail. It still works perfectly and in good condition.
Thank you for your comment. You have to love old pellet rifles. I am curious, did you store your 761XL with our without one pump in it? I have heard that it is best to store them with one pump in them, but growing up I had never heard that, so I just stored them without a pump.
@@CHARLESCRANFORD It was stored without a pump in it. Would you suggest i do. Thanks
@@dirt_diver I am just curious. Like I said before, I have heard that one pump theoretically puts a little bit of pressure on the seals that helps them keep their shape and therefore not leak. If you search the topic, you will find all kinds of reasons to store them with one pump and lots of reasons to not store them with one pump. I guess it just comes down to personal preference.
Did you get mud in lines from the leak also?
I tried my best not to but I believe i did. If you watch my video of rebuilding the pressure regulator, it was dirty and rusty. I think the demise of my pressure regulator may have been a combination of time and mud. Thank you for your question.
Ended up being able to throw a pipe repair clamp on it (with a little Alien Shield tape stuck between the rubber and the pipe) to get it done. The confidence to get in there in the first place came from your video. Thank you!!
Thank you for the thanks. I think the hardest part, for me, was digging to the pipe. How long did you have to dig?
You realize that's a band aid and the weakest link in your chain now, you'll really realize it next time you're digging the same hole 😉
@@Bear2U I have read both sides of the argument for using or not using shark bite connectors. I guess, if they ever fail, I will find out.
Thanks
Thank you.
I like your "general rule of thumb". That expression could be horribly ironic if you don't stick to the rule (it would become a "rule of no thumb")
Most of us have eight fingers and two thumbs, that's why we have to be careful with our thumbs, we don't have many extras.
Hello. I live in an old house. I am getting stinky smells in the living room and near the attic access. The living room is over the access to the crawl space. The fire department read hydrogen sulfide. Sometimes the toilet gets stopped, mainly in the mornings. Do you know what my problem could be?
You might need a plumber. At least you don't have bald faced hornets.
